Our Position: 

We offer a full time, fixed term opportunity for a passionate educator with specific and current experience in teaching VCE Chemistry (Year 11 and 12) and Senior Mathematics (General Mathematics - Year 11 and Mathematics Year 10).

Our teachers contribute to an aspirational and rigorous culture of learning and educational excellence, bringing creativity, collaboration and commitment to their work.  We seek teachers who are champions of student-centred learning, able to adapt with agility to the learning needs of students in their care.  The position joins a team of passionate educators in the Science and Mathematics faculties, demonstrating contemporary approaches to pedagogy and assessment, underpinned by the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm. 

More generally, at Xavier College, Senior School teachers operate in a multi-faceted role where duties include: 

  • maintenance of best practice in contemporary teaching pedagogies. 

  • pastoral care. 

  • curriculum development and assessment collaboration.

  • professional learning and professional formation.

  • cocurricular involvement (including supervision of students engaging in the programs).

  • general and administrative duties including reporting and maintenance of accurate and complete data / records of student progress.

  • understanding of and engagement with the Child Safe Standards and Duty of Care responsibilities.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Core Duties and Responsibilities: 

A Xavier College teacher at the Senior School is expected to: 

  • model the highest standards of professional practice and lead across all dimensions of the educational program, including academic, spiritual and pastoral.  

  • support the Head of Learning Area in the managing and functionality of the Learning Area, including but not limited to creating resources for various subject areas, overseeing continuous reporting, the administration of exams, course writing and documentation. 

  • assist the Head of Learning Area in the management of their Learning Area, as well as to demonstrate genuine leadership of staff. 

  • be responsible for the care and protection of children in accordance with Ministerial Order 1359 

  • support and reflect the Ignatian ethos of the College. 

  • be responsible for the wellbeing, teaching and learning programs of all students in their care. 

  • be responsible for guiding the conduct of students and mainatining a child safe environment. 

  • be responsible for the appearance of students and model appropriate professional presentation. 

  • develop and maintain collegial and professional relationships with fellow staff members. 

  • adhere to all College policies and regulatory  / compliance requirements.
