About the Role:
- FTE: 0.832
- 5 days a week, Term time only. This role will include 1-2 evening shifts (outlined below)
- Monday: 9:00am 4:30pm
- Tuesday 10:30am - 6:00pm
- Wednesday 8:00am - 3:30pm
- Thursday 12:30pm - 8:00pm
- Friday 8:30am -4:00pm
The Library Assistant will be an enthusiastic, creative, flexible, innovative and dynamic person, with excellent and highly developed interpersonal and ICT skills, willing and able to work collaboratively in the library team, providing assistance and support. In this role, you are required to be fully aware and accepting of the College’s Child Protection program and ensure the wellbeing and protection of every child in our care.
The Library Assistant offers positive and professional support across the campus, supporting the characteristics of Jesuit Education through their manner and personal concern for the care of each individual on the campus and across the Xavier Family. The Library Assistant understands their important contribution to the College’s Intent and educational mission, and with this, the care and safety of all students in accord with the highest standards of child safety and upholding an exceptional child safe culture at the College.
The ideal candidate will have strong digital technology skills, who can value add to the upcoming programs, provide support for study and research skills, create lunchtime initiatives and run them across both Senior School Libraries (Brennan and Kostka).
Selection Criteria
- A commitment to educating children, working in and contributing to the ethos of a Jesuit school.
- Diploma of Library and Information Services or actively working towards qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to act with and foster collaboration and effective teamwork.
- Highly developed ICT skills. Info literacy qualifications
- 3-7 years experience in libraries
- High level digital skills, SORA, databases and research skills for Seniors needs
- Confidence with students, managing on task behaviour and builds rapport
- Experience with developing programs for students that are lunchtime run and engaging to drive reading and connection with Library
- Supporting existing programs Your Voice, Battle of the Books, Book Club and Senior Collections Team
- Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to child safety, the Child Safe Standards and the provision of an exceptional culture of child safety.
- Well-developed people management skills coupled with positive communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires self-direction, team-orientation and the ability to effectively handle pressure in a manner consistent with Ignatian values.
